Abdulganiev Shakur Galiuly

Abdulganiev Shakur Galiuly. 1926 - 1990

Graphic artist, painter, art scholar. Born in Semey. Graduated from the N.V. Gogol Almaty Art College (1960), with teachers: A. Galyimbaeva, I. Kvachko. In the 1960s and 1970s, he worked as a curator and organizer of traveling exhibitions at the T.G. Shevchenko State Art Gallery of Kazakhstan, the Directorate of Art Exhibitions of the Ministry of Culture of the Kazakh SSR, and the artistic fund of the Union of Artists of Kazakhstan. He published articles on visual arts. Since 1953, he participated in city and republican exhibitions, including: the republican art exhibition "40 Years to the Komsomol," Almaty, 1961; the II republican graphic exhibition held at the T.G. Shevchenko State Art Gallery, Almaty, 1963; the traveling exhibition of works by artists from Kazakhstan, Zhambyl, Shymkent, and Kyzylorda, 1965; the I republican watercolor exhibition of Kazakh artists at the T.G. Shevchenko State Art Gallery, 1969; the republican anniversary art exhibition "Soviet Kazakhstan" at the T.G. Shevchenko State Art Gallery, 1970; the republican exhibition "On the Lenin Path" at the T.G. Shevchenko State Art Gallery, 1970; the I republican paintings exhibition at the T.G. Shevchenko State Art Gallery, 1971; an exhibition of works by Almaty artists dedicated to Victory Day, 1975; the republican art exhibition "Landscape and Still Life," Almaty, 1976, and others. Solo exhibitions: an exhibition of watercolors and paintings at the "Ala-Tau" cinema, Almaty, 1973; a watercolor exhibition at the Republican House of Cinema, Almaty, 1977, 1980, 1983; an exhibition dedicated to the 50th anniversary, Almaty, 1976; an exhibition of works at the regional exhibition hall, Semey, 1977, and others. After the artist's death, 6 exhibitions were held in Almaty. His works are preserved in museums in Kazakhstan, the Baltics, Russia, and private collections.

In 2016, his daughter Svetlana Vizer donated over a hundred of her father's works to the Nevzorov Family Museum of Visual Arts. In 2019, his only daughter Svetlana Vizer passed away.
