8. Lobanovsky Pavel Dmitrievich. 1857-1887
A military man and a member of the "People's Freedom" organization. For political infidelity, he was exiled from Rostov-on-Don to the governor-general of the Steppe region. In August 1884, he settled in Semipalatinsk, where he met Abai and became friends. In 1887, the Bolshevsk Statistics Committee commissioned him, as an amateur artist, to prepare a collection of paintings for the Ural Industrial Exhibition. He painted dozens of paintings, among which the sixth is a portrait of Abai with the inscription "Honored Kyrgyz of Chingistau Bolshevsk, Member of the Statistics Committee." The painting is kept in the Abai Literary and Memorial Museum.
