Alekseev Nikolai Evdokimovich

Nikolai Evdokimovich Alekseev

Poet, journalist, member of the Writers' Union of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

Born on October 27, 1941, in Semey city (now Semey city), at the Semey station in the Abai region. In March 1966, N. Alekseev's first poem titled "The maple buds burst" was published in the "Ertis" newspaper. In the early 1970s, N. Alekseev worked in the editorial staff of this newspaper. Nikolai Evdokimovich Alekseev published "New Poems" (1969), "Komsomol Avenue" (1978), "Ledostov" (1982), "Altybakan" (2003), "The Moon over Zhidebay" (2004), "The Peaks Are Visible from Afar" (2004), "Peaks and Depths" (2005), "Regret" (2005). The characters in his poems and essays are local figures, the great sons of the steppe: Abai, Mukhtar Auezov, the exiled writer F.M. Dostoevsky, writers K. Mukhamedkhanov, D. Cherepanov, S. Anisimov. Knowing the Kazakh language allowed Nikolai Alekseev to use the plots of Kazakh legends and myths in his works such as "Altybakan," "To You, A Tribute, Land of Abai," and others. In honor of the 280th anniversary of Semey city (now Semey city), N. Alekseev completed the collective collection of essays and sketches titled "The City of Semey." Based on the results of the republican literary competition held for Abai's anniversary, Nikolai Alekseev was awarded a commendation prize for the cycle of essays and poems titled "In the Land of Abai." Nikolai Alekseev worked for nearly twenty years as a literary consultant in the Semey branch of the Writers' Union of Kazakhstan, helping local young talents. He led the creative literary association "Ertis Ogonki" for fifteen years. He passed away on November 23, 2016.
