Beloslyudov Nikolai Nikolaevich (01.12.1880-1943) - local historian, topographer. He graduated from a 5-class school in Semey in 1895, then entered the Omsk Technical School, which he completed in 1889. From 1906 to 1916, he worked in the topographic service of the land department. He traveled throughout Siberia, conducting research with historical and ethnographic significance. He became closely acquainted with G. N. Potanin and, with his advice, collected archaeological and ethnographic collections, involving his brothers Viktor and Alexei in this endeavor. Thus, they opened a museum from the exhibits they collected. While teaching drawing and design at the teachers' seminary and schools in Semey, Beloslyudov studied the cultural and spiritual wealth of the Kazakh people, giving it special attention. On behalf of the Russian Geographical Society in Semey, he collected and studied archaeological and ethnographic exhibits, samples of Kazakh oral literature, and folk songs. He organized short courses for Kazakh teachers in Semey and gave lectures on art, literature, and Abai. He dreamed of translating Abai's poems into Russian and introducing them to the Russian people. In a letter sent to Viktor from Tomsk on January 28, 1911, Nikolai Beloslyudov wrote: “I met with G. N. Potanin and talked at his home; I mentioned the poet Qunanbaev, and he did not know him. Potanin told me: ‘Write to Konshin; he should select the best poems of Abai and publish them in "Sibirskaya zhizn" to introduce them to the public,’” he wrote. In another letter that year, he wrote: “Vitya, Potanin wrote about you in the newspaper. You may have met him; he is very good. He has also gone to collect and write Kazakh stories; before leaving Tomsk, he didn’t have the chance to discuss translating Abai Qunanbaev's poems into prose with editor Nauryzov; I will tell him this by letter,” he wrote. He was in correspondence and friendship with M. O. Auezov, J. Shanin, Q. Satpaev, X. Gabbasov, A. Ermekov, and N. Qulzhanov. Through them, he learned about Abai Qunanbaev and aimed to translate his progressive works into Russian and introduce them to the Russian people. Beloslyudov made significant contributions in introducing Abai's poems and musical heritage to G. N. Potanin and documenting his opinions in letters.
