Akimova Maria Vasilievna


Akimova Maria Vasilievna came to work at the N.V. Gogol Library in 1934 at the age of 25. In 1941, on the recommendation of the regional health department, she was appointed head of the library club of hospital No. 3593, evacuated to the city of Semey, located in the building of the Zoo-Veterinary Institute.


While working at the hospital, Maria Vasilievna constantly made efforts to provide spiritual support to wounded soldiers. On her initiative, concerts were organized on a temporary stage, which was not prepared in advance, and political awareness-raising activities were carried out, and the "Franco Theater" from Ukraine also performed.


Maria Vasilievna did not limit herself to cultural, educational and propaganda activities in her work at the hospital, but also constantly extended a helping hand to medical workers. She helped unload seriously wounded soldiers from the wagons, took them to the hospital, processed the necessary documents, was on duty with the sick, performed dressing work, and delivered discharged and discharged soldiers home.


For her selfless work in the military hospital, Akimova Maria Vasilievna was awarded the medal "For the Victory over Germany."


In 1950, Maria Vasilievna returned to the N.V. Gogol Library and worked as the head of the reading room until her retirement.


During her years of work at the library, Maria Vasilievna was awarded certificates of honor from the Ministry of Culture and the Supreme Council of the Republic. In 1957, she was awarded the title of "Honored Worker of Culture."


Maria Vasilievna is an independent pensioner of our city, awarded the medal "For Distinguished Service to the Republic."


Even after retirement, Maria Vasilievna kept up with all the news and could not imagine a day without books and reading. She participated in events organized by the library, sharing her work experience and advice with young librarians.
