Sharypov Adi

(1912-1993)

Born on December 19, 1912, in the village of Malinovka, Zharma district, Adi Sharypov is a prominent writer, insightful scholar, and statesman whose fate and creativity are intertwined with the tumultuous history of an entire century. His long and complex life journey witnessed the chaotic periods of the early 20th century, the devastating famine of the 1930s, the bloody purges of 1937, the Great Patriotic War from 1941 to 1945, and the difficult and resilient life of the Kazakh people in the post-war years, all of which he observed with his own eyes, felt with his heart, and absorbed into his consciousness.

Adi Sharypov's creative essence was particularly evident during the years of the Great Patriotic War. His novellas "Partisan Girl," "Fire in the Forest," and "The History of One Coat," written amidst the fire and bullets, found their way into the hearts of the people and became beloved works among readers. In these works, the writer did not merely depict the realities of war but artistically portrayed the strength of the human spirit, as well as noble examples of heroism and humanity.

In the years following the war, Adi Sharypov actively engaged in both literature and science. He worked fruitfully for many years in the field of literary studies and became known as a scholar who deeply researched the theory and history of Kazakh literature. As a Doctor of Philology, he authored over 350 scientific articles and studies, as well as fundamental monographs. His works made a significant contribution to the development of national literary studies.

In 2024, as part of the "Abai Path" library project implemented with the support of the governor of Abai region, Sharypov's collection titled "What I Saw, What I Understood" was published by the "Foliant" publishing house.

The scholar's and writer's long-standing efforts were highly appreciated, and he was awarded the Lenin, Red Star, and "Honorary Sign" orders, along with many other medals. The inclusion of Adi Sharypov's name in the prestigious reference book "Outstanding People of the Planet," published by the International Bibliographic Center of Cambridge University, is a testament to the global recognition of his scientific and creative work.

A prominent writer, profound thinker, and a statesman who served the interests of the nation, Adi Sharypov passed away on November 4, 1993, at the age of nearly eighty. He remains a figure whose rich legacy in Kazakh literature and science, in the education of the post-war generation, and in the cultural sphere will be forever remembered by future generations. His scientific works, artistic creations, and integrity in public service continue to serve as valuable sources of information and inspiration for researchers and literature enthusiasts today.

Adi Sharypov was not only a writer or a scholar but also a person who actively participated in public and state life. He held managerial positions in the Union of Writers of Kazakhstan and literary organizations, contributing to the organization of literary processes and the formation of a creative environment. In particular, he placed special emphasis on promoting Kazakh literature at the international level, expanding the scope of national literary knowledge by publishing foreign literatures and studies in the Kazakh language.

Additionally, Adi Sharypov was an organizer and active participant in numerous literary-philological conferences and scientific seminars. He mentored young researchers and established methodological directions in the study of the history of Kazakh literature. In the writer's creativity, the issues of human destiny, national consciousness, respect for history, and humanity took center stage.
