Rakhmetullin Yerkin Erlanuly

Erkin Erlanuly Rakhmetullin (21.03.1987) was born in the village of Sarzhal, located in the Aбай district of Semey region. In 1993, he was admitted to the first grade of Sarzhal Secondary School named after Sh.O. Tokzhigitov and graduated in 2004. From 2004 to 2008, he completed his bachelor's degree in "History" at M.O. Auezov Semey University (now KazIGZU). From 2009 to 2011, he graduated from the master's program at the Faculty of History of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University in Almaty, obtaining a master's degree in humanities. From May 14 to 23, 2011, he underwent an internship in the master's program at the Institute of Material Culture History of the Russian Academy of Sciences (Russia, St. Petersburg). In 2010-2011, he worked as a researcher at the A.Kh. Margulan Institute of Archaeology. From September 2011 to February 2012, he served as a senior lecturer in the Department of Social Sciences at the Kazakhstan-Russia Medical University located in Almaty, teaching the subject of Kazakhstan history. From February 2012 to August 2013, he worked as a researcher at the Institute of State History under the Committee of Science of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan in Astana. From 2013 to 2016, he studied in the doctoral program in "History" at L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University. From February 16 to April 26, 2016, he underwent a scientific internship in the doctoral program at the Institute of Russian History of the Russian Academy of Sciences (Russia, Moscow) and at Omsk State Pedagogical University (Russia, Omsk). He conducted research for his doctoral dissertation at the State Archive of the Russian Federation, the Russian State Military Archive, and the Archive of Social and Political Research of the Russian Federation. In 2014-2015, he worked as a senior lecturer at the Faculty of History of L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University. From October 2016 to June 2017, he worked as a researcher at the "Otyrar Library" Scientific Center of L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University. From 2017 to 2021, he served as a senior lecturer in the Department of Kazakhstan History at Shakarim State University in Semey. From 2021 to 2023, he was the director of the "Alash Studies" Research Center at Alikhan Bokeikhan University. In 2023-2024, he worked as a lecturer in the Department of History at Shakarim University, and since 2024, he has been the head of the "History and Archaeology" Scientific Center, a structural unit of the university.

From 2021 to 2023, he was involved in research activities as part of the working group of the State Commission for the Full Rehabilitation of Victims of Political Repression in Aбай region. Erkin Erlanuly is the author of about 40 scientific articles and several scientific-popular books. He has also contributed to the compilation of many scientific collections, including the selected 15-volume works of Alikhan Bokeikhan.

Research interests: Political processes of the early 20th century, history of the Civil War, issues of the Alash movement.
