Dulat Babataiyuly

Dulat Babataiyuly

Dulat Babatayuly is one of the few great poets of our people. He was born in the Kyzylzhol tract of the former Ayagoz district of the Semipalatinsk region; his summer pastures were Akzhaylau and Sandyktas. He lived in these places until the end of his life. According to available information, Dulat was a literate poet who received a traditional education and holds a special place in 19th-century Kazakh literature.

In his tolgau (reflections), Dulat raised important issues of that time and deeply reflected the reality of his era. In works dedicated to individuals such as "To Kenesbay," "To Barak," and "To the Ishan touring the country," he revealed the unsightly sides of society at that time through sharp satire.
