The height of the monument is 6 meters, made of concrete and covered with marble. For the construction, local craftsmen used red, brown, and light gray granite, cement, sand, alabaster, and lime. On a low pedestal, a room with a height of 2.6 m has been built, featuring arched entrances on four walls, shaped like a cube, with wall lengths of 3.39 m. At the top of the structure, an obelisk in the form of a pyramid has been created. The facade of the monument bears the inscription "Enlik-Kebek." Inside, on a granite slab, the words of Abai "Do not live long, blue sky, the wound is great, young death" are carved. The pedestal is made of reinforced concrete, and the granite slab is covered with stone. The enclosure of the monument is small and square-shaped, with 8 low concrete pillars installed and connected by iron chains. The enclosed area measures 9 m x 9 m.
Historical data
The monument is erected at the grave of two lovers: Enlik, a girl from the Matay clan who became a victim of feudal-social conflicts in the first half of the 18th century in Kazakhstan, and Kebek, a young man from the Tobykty clan. To this day, two versions of the poem "Enlik-Kebek," which has reached us as a legend, are known: the first is "Zholsyz zhaza yaki kez bolgan is" written by Shakarim, and the second is the poem "Enlik-Kebek" written by Magauiya Abaiuly. M. Auezov's play "Enlik-Kebek" is dedicated to this tragic event. The tower was built in 1780 over the grave of Enlik and Kebek. Over time, the tower collapsed, and in 1959, the residents of Abai district restored the monument.
