The mausoleums No. 1 and No. 2 in the Karakat necropolis are centralized, circular planned, and have parabolic domes. Mausoleum No. 1 is located on the west side, with a height of 5.5 m, a base diameter of 6.7 m, a chamber height of 5.34 m, and a volume of 135 m³. Mausoleum No. 2 is located on the southwest side, with a height of 5.2 m, a base diameter of 7.43 m, a chamber height of 5.62 m, and a volume of 180 m³. Both mausoleums are constructed of brick and clay, and their domes are illuminated through light openings. The mausoleums No. 3 and No. 4 in the Karakat necropolis are centralized and have a circular or conical shape. • Mausoleum No. 3 is located in the northern part, single-chambered, with a height of 3.6 m, a base of 5.5 m, a chamber height of 4.3 m, a wall thickness of 1.11 m, and a volume of 65 m³. • Mausoleum No. 4 is located on the eastern side, conical in shape, with a height of 4.1 m, a base of 6.0 m, a chamber height of 3.97 m, a wall thickness of 1.65 m, and a volume of 85 m³. Both mausoleums are constructed of brick and clay, their chambers are unplastered, and they have light openings.
Historical data
Karakhat necropolis is one of the domed mausoleums. Ancestors of the Karakat clan, who migrated from the Irtysh River in 1805, are buried here. The exact history of the mausoleums' construction is unknown. In 1989, an expedition from the Almaty Architecture and Construction Institute (led by E.M. Baitenov) studied the site. The necropolis contains several monuments of the relatives and descendants of the Karakat clan, one of which belongs to mausoleum No. 2.
