In 2004, a commemorative stone was erected at the birthplace of the great poet Syt-Qasqabulaq. The commemorative stone is made of black gabbro and was placed on top of a hill, with the inscription on the stone reading, "In this place, in 1845, the wise Kazakh poet Abai (Ibrahim) was born in the village of ağa sultan Qunanbay." The stone is surrounded by a special iron fence.

Two small rivers flow from the two slopes of the hill, one from the south to the east, and the other to the west. At the foot of the hill, on the side facing Semey, the Kasqabulaq valley stretches. The river flowing towards Shyngyshtak is called Abai Kasqabulaq River. It was here that on August 10, 1845, the great poet Abai was born in a Kazakh yurt. Every year in spring and autumn, the village of Qunanbay moved to the banks of this river. Kasqabulaq was the residence of the district ruler bi Qunanbay Oskenbayuly.
